Register today and help promote peace and harmony by running or walking together with the disabled during the SCI MPPP Penang Peace Run 2010 from 7.30 am to 10.00 am on Sunday, 25 July 2010 at the Youth Park.

Jointly organised by the State Youth & Sports, Women, Family and Community Development Committee together with Service Civil International Penang Chapter and the Penang Municipal Council with the support of the Penang State Sports Council, the event is expected to attract up to 3,000 participants.

State Youth, Sports, Women, Family and Community Development Committee chairman Lydia Ong Kok Fooi, who is also the state Sports Council chairman, said the event would help encourage the community to form closer bond with the disabled especially disabled children.

“This event would help stress on the importance of living in a harmonious and peaceful environment,” she said during a press conference at G Hotel on 1 June 2010.

Themed ‘Unity in Diversity’, the run is 1.5km for the disabled and 6km for the able bodied.

The participation fee for adult competition categories adults is RM15, RM10 for students and free for participants from special schools and orphanage. Each registered participant will be given a T-shirt.

Registration forms are available at Pioneer Sports enterprise at jalan Dato’ Keramat, Brindhaven at No 69, Penang Street, Penang State Sports Council at Batu Uban, SCI Penang Chapter at Penang Caring Complex, Malaya Sports Enterprise at Jalan Bagan Luar, Pusat Service, Tyre & Battery Untong at Jalan Besar in Sungai Bakap, and Pusat Sukan Gembira at Jalan Dato’ ooi Chooi Cheng in Bukit Mertajam.

Closing date for registration is July 12.
