Colours of Malaysia Lantern Bicycle Night Ride & Competition In Co-operation With The State Government under the MMK Belia & Sukan, Pembagunan Wanita, Komuniti & Keluarga

In celebrating the upcoming mid autumn festival, Persatuan Gaya Hidup Berbasikal Pulau Pinang (PCLS) will be organizing a lantern bicycle night ride and competition at New World Park, Penang for the second year running on 12th September 2010 (Sunday) from 7.00 pm onwards. Themed ‘Colours of Malaysia’, this event is aimed at bringing families and friends of different races together in enjoying lantern parade on bicycles and the tradition of moon cakes eating. This event is open to participants aged 12 years old and above.

Other than the ride, there will be a lantern bicycle competition as well. Participants are required to decorate their bicycles using any type of materials according to our theme. Judging will be based on relevance to theme, creativity, originality and overall presentation of the bicycles. There will be a participation fee of RM 10 for the competition and RM 5 for the bicycle ride only. Door gifts will be given to all participants. For those who would like to join in the ride in a more leisurely way, limited trishaws are available for rent at a nominal fee. All forms and participation fee must reach New World Park by 6th September 2010 (Monday) before 5.00 pm.

The best decorated bicycles’ owners will walk away with:-

1st Prize RM 300.00 Cash + Trophy
2nd Prize RM 200.00 Cash + Trophy
3rd Prize RM 100.00 Cash + Trophy
Consolation Prize (X 5) Mystery Gift

The ride will be flagged off from New World Park by Y.B. Pn. Lydia Ong Kok Fooi, Y.B. Tn. Chow Kon Yeow, Y.B. Tn. Teh Yee Cheu, Mr. K.K. Tung – President of PCLS and Mr. Clarence Tan – Senior Manager of PPB Group Berhad at 8.00 pm and is expected to arrive back at New World Park at 9.00 pm.

The parade will pass through Penang Road and Lebuh Farquhar where participants can take in Penang’s night life and buildings with heritage architecture. Participants will then stop by City Hall for refreshments before proceeding to Beach Street, Lebuh Chulia, Penang Road and finally back to New World Park. It’s certainly an event not to be missed as participants will get to enjoy the evening breeze and George Town’s heritage sites on a slower pace without the traffic jams.
